March update 1.53: analytics to power your progress

Get ready for the upcoming outdoor workout season with EXR’s new monthly update: train smarter and reach your goals faster. Download the March update to explore new workouts, extra performance stats, upgraded training reports and more!

The March update will be released gradually over one week for iOS, Android, macOS and Windows. You can check for updates in the App Store/ Play Store or wait until the app updates automatically.

The tvOS version of this update is currently undergoing a full redesign to deliver a more intuitive experience. You still enjoy full functionality with the old version. While it’s not available at this time, you can access EXR version 1.53 on other operating systems



New

Social report

The General Report was replaced by the new Social Report. It gives an overview of your route and everything you have achieved that session. The Social Report introduces the following new functions:

  • “Rowed with” tab to easily follow rowers who passed nearby, regardless of their route.
  • Enhanced route visualization to track your route.
  • Challenge/achievement overview to check your progress (also available during your session).

Extra data: Threshold Zone

The Threshold Zone is a yellow training intensity level that sits between the green zone (much below your Functional Threshold Power, or FTP) and the red zone (far above your FTP). When rowing in this zone, you work slightly above your FTP. The effort feels challenging but sustainable, helping you improve your ability to maintain a high pace for longer periods without quickly fatiguing.

For the most effective indoor rowing experience, we recommend updating your FTP periodically.


Training report

All report visuals have been upgraded leading to an improved user experience and a more comprehensive style. This makes data easier to interpret at a glance while maintaining a consistent look throughout the app.

Plus, the following extra data and functions have been added:

  • Threshold Zone indicating efforts slightly above your FTP
  • Workout blocks shown behind the graph
  • Power output in watts & split shown at the same time
  • Total stroke counter
  • Information about heart rate zones
  • Option to directly mark workouts as favorite
  • Option to show simplified data on graphs
  • Option to continue rowing without touching the screen/having to click a button by rowing a few strokes (see counter)

Extra pre-made workouts

15 new workouts have been added to the Quick Selection highlighting the new various power zones. This expands the workout variety to mix up your training routine. Here is a list of all new EXR workouts:

Superhero item set

The item set includes the following items which you can unlock and equip separately:

  • Superhero Mask for 1800 X-Coins (level requirement: 35)
  • Superhero Suit for 4000 X-Coins (level requirement: 40)
  • Superhero Gloves for 1100 X-Coins (level requirement: 32)
  • Superhero Socks for 1200 X-Coins (level requirement: 28)
  • Superhero Boat for 2650 X-Coins (level requirement: 36)
  • Superhero Oars for 700 X-Coins (level requirement: 28)

Improved

  • Reworked the map preview visuals when selecting a route.
  • Reworked the minimap for clearer visualisation of routes and segments.
  • Increased the error margin in Training Mode with extra error margin for high intensity training blocks.
  • Improved the Alpine backdrop visuals on Lake Bled.
  • Removed the private/public toggle for third-party apps when saving a session to avoid confusion. Manage your privacy settings directly in the respective third-party app.
  • Reworked the minigame interfaces.
  • Just Row data are now uploaded in 5 minute intervals to the Concept2 Logbook.

Fixed

  • Fixed rowers stuttering at route starting points.
  • Fixed inconsistencies in average power calculations throughout the app.
  • Fixed cloud stuttering on Android
  • Added missing leaderboard images for Forest Flash and Base Breaker segments.
  • Minor improvements and fixes.

Beat the monthly challenges to unlock unique badges. Row a total of 7 hours, unlock 200 X-Coins and beat the easy Time Challenge. Make it 15 challenges to claim 450 X-Coins and crush the hard Time Challenge. The Competition Challenge invites you to complete 12 races (Competition Mode only) to claim 300 X-Coins!
