FTP test

What is the FTP test?

FTP stands for Functional Threshold Power. The FTP test measures your maximum power output over 1 hour. The results form the baseline of your training, so every workout is tailored to your performance.

By default, EXR uses its own speed calculation setting called EXR Split. That’s why your split in EXR might differ from the split of your rowing machine.

Taking the FTP test

Find the FTP test by selecting options (the cogwheel in the bottom-right corner of your home screen) and then clicking on gameplay and FTP test. You have the option to either select a 20-minute test (sustain high output for 20 minutes) or a ramp test (increasingly difficult until you quit).

You can do the test as many times as you like.

To guarantee challenging workouts, it is recommended to retake the FTP test every once in a while.
