How to row with SmartRow and EXR

EXR is compatible with the SmartRow Power Pulley and the SmartRow Power Handle. Follow the instructions below to connect and row with SmartRow!

The SmartRow Power Pulley enables Waterrowers to connect to EXR and train with detailed performance data. You can choose between connecting SmartRow directly to EXR (“one-device solution”) or using 2 devices (“two-device solution”).

How to connect SmartRow directly to EXR:

  1. Activate the SmartRow by pulling on the handle once.
  2. Open EXR’s Connection Screen and search for "SmartRow".
  3. Click on connect and you’re ready to row!

How to connect SmartRow using two devices:

  1. Open your SmartRow app and connect to the SmartRow PowerMeter by pressing the broadcast button on the left of the blue circle.
  2. In the list, click on EXR and select Apply.
  3. Open EXR on a second device and set up your gear via the connect screen. After establishing a connection with SmartRow, the kit shines blue.
  4. In the SmartRow app, select the Just Row mode to continue or choose your preferred distance. In this case, make sure to select the same time and distance in both apps. Press the start button.
  5. Start your training on EXR.

Primarily, SmartRow is responsible for the two device sollution with the SmartRow app. Please visit the SmartRow FAQ for information on connectivity, broadcasting, hardware and software.

The SmartRow Power Handle equips a broad range of rowing machines with Bluetooth functionality. This enables rowing machine without native Bluetooth connectivity to connect with EXR.

  1. Turn on the handle. Activate it with the power button on the left side (push on the house icon with the power button inside).
  2. Is the Bluetooth light flashing? You can now connect to EXR via the app’s connection screen. If it's successful, the Bluetooth light will no longer flash.

Once your SmartRow handle’s Bluetooth is turned on, the Bluetooth icon flashes blue. This means it's searching for a device. If it doesn't do this or stops immediately, it might be connected to another device. If so, disconnect it first and then try again.

EXTRA: Still having trouble? Long-press the power button to turn off the handle and try again.
